In-play Odds, Features and Functionality 9
The Betway live betting platform offers a nice rounded selection of betting options and markets. It’s not the biggest, but it’s certainly sizable enough, with an average of over 90 betting options per fixture. The sports list also isn’t the biggest, but all the most popular markets are there, such as football and tennis. What the bookmaker lacks a little in the size of its in-play markets it makes up for in the depth of coverage. There are a great number of fixtures for each sport, all of which are supplied with a wide range of different options. Betway does a great job of covering events from around the world in-play, so you’re likely to find whatever event you’re looking for here.
|Summary of Live Betting Options|
|Double Chance||Next Set Winner||1st Man Out||Frame Winner||Interval Winners|
|Total Goals||Next Game Winner||Highest Partnership||Deciding Frame?||Race to (x) Points|
|Half Time Score||Total Sets||Top Batsman||Last Player to Pot||Overtime Markets|
|Next Goal||Win at Least 1 Set||Method of Dismissal||1st Colour Potted||Total Points|
I really like the look and feel of the in-play platform here. The bookmaker has kept things nice and simple with the layout and followed the same overall design as the pre-match betting platform – the main betting platform proved to be one of the main highlights of the Betway betting site, check out our main review page for the full report. The current in-play events are listed in the centre of the screen and grouped by sport, while there is another list for current and upcoming events down the left side of the page. The upcoming fixtures are covered up to a week in advance for all the available sports and while it is not the best system to use as a calendar for upcoming in-play events, it gets the job done. Things look and function equally well when betting on a live fixture. The match infographic runs along the centre of the screen, with the statistics underneath. Below are the betting options for the event, some of which have an accompanying cash out symbol to show that they are valid with the special feature.
One area where the bookmaker lost a few points was with the level of its in-play odds when compared to other operators. We tested the in-play odds for 4 sports at all the operators and Betway came out with the lowest odds for 2 of these sports. One of which was football, which is probably the most widely bet on sport for UK customers. The remaining odds certainly aren’t low and the margins between the operators are very fine in this area, so really, there’s not much to worry about here, as you’ll still be getting a good price on most in-play events. However for an example of an operator with slightly better in-play numbers, look no further than the UK favourite Ladbrokes. There’s also not really anything in the way of extra features or offers. This obviously has no effect on the standard of the in-play system, but it would be nice to see some special bet types, such as the Coral Rapid Fire Markets.
Small But Quality Live Streaming Service
The Betway live-streaming service is reasonably new and is exclusive to UK, Irish and Swedish customers. The service is free as long as you have a funded account. Events that are available for streaming are highlighted by a small play symbol next to the event, which you can simply click to begin streaming.
The downside however is that both the range of sports and the coverage of those sports that are featured is fairly small. The sports available for streaming are football, ice hockey, tennis and volleyball. But that doesn’t mean that there is full coverage of all these sports with a range of leagues and tournaments covered. Instead, for football there is just the German Bundesliga and the Russian Premier League. For ice hockey there is the Russian league, for tennis there is the ATP tour and for volleyball there is a little wider offering, with various European leagues. On the other hand, the streams are smooth and of a good quality.
In-depth Live Scores & Statistics
The live scores and statistics for each in-play event are really useful, with a good level of detail that would help any punter when betting in-play. The live statistics are listed underneath the match infographic and cover stats like corners, cards and goals. There’s also a little graph symbol next to many fixtures that provides a quick link to all the stats for the previous fixtures between the two teams. This is a great way to get a quick record of the head to head record between the two teams.
There’s also a fantastic results service that covers fixtures from up to a year ago. In addition to the scores there’s accompanying statistics and form guides that go into a great level of detail. You can check the performance of individual players, see the head to head results between two teams and much, much more. This level of statistical information contained on the site and supplied by Betradar makes the results service here a fantastic feature that is vastly superior to many of the results services from other leading sportsbooks.
Conclusion – A Great Place to Bet In-play
There are a lot of advantages to the Betway live-betting service. The sports market range is a little smaller than at other operators but that’s really not an issue since the major sports are there; the betting range is sizeable and focused, containing all the in-play favourites. The platform also performs extremely well, with the odds changing smoothly and quickly and the logical layout means navigation around the platform is simple and stress free.
- Major Strengths
- wide range of betting options
- good live football odds
- Minor Strengths
- super-fast odds updates
- Major Weaknesses
- Minor Weaknesses
- limited live stream coverage
Those are the positives, but there are a few weaknesses to the platform too. The Betway live-streaming service is pretty limited, with both a small range of sports and a small range of leagues covered for these sports. However the service itself is fairly new, so I’m sure they will be improving and increasing it over time so that some day, it may be able to compete with the outstanding live streaming service offered by Coral. The other weakness is with the in-play odds for most sports, where betway ranked in the bottom few for almost all the sports we tested. However, the difference between those bookies with the best in-play odds and those with the worst is just a few percentage points, so the difference is in most cases negligible, especially if you are playing for smaller stakes. Overall then, it’s a great performance from a great bookie.

How can I access the Betway statistics?
On the right side of the homepage is a box with the title ‘Useful Stats’. Clicking this will take you to an external site with statistics and results for past sporting events. Alternatively, many fixtures will have a small graph symbol next to them. Clicking this will give you a comprehensive list of statistics for the previous encounters between these two teams or players.
