It’s week six of the EPL, and already there is a gap at the top of the league. Man City suffered a shock defeat last week against Norwich and will be looking to bounce back.

Elsewhere the game of the week is surely Chelsea vs Liverpool. Can Frank’s youngsters trump Klopp’s all-stars? Find out about this game and every other match this weekend in the following paragraphs.

Match of the Day

The match of the weekend goes to this clash of the titans. Chelsea will face off against the might of Liverpool in what is shaping up to be a pulsating game. Find out our predictions below.

Chelsea v Liverpool

  • Venue: Stamford Bridge
  • Sunday 22 September 16:30
  • Referee: Michael Oliver
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 5/2 D: 11/4 A: 1/1

About the Game:

There is an air of optimism surrounding Chelsea, with Frank Lampard’s reign being epitomised by the influx of youth. Nevertheless, he remains winless at home and will be searching for his first victory on Sunday.

Chelsea have been spearheaded by Tammy Abraham who has scored at least twice in his past three PL games. The only player to do this in four matches was Luis Suarez in 2013, so he will be looking to equal this record. Recent history is against Chelsea as the have only won once in their past nine games against Liverpool, losing three in that span. We can be certain there will be goals in this one, with only once clean sheet between them this season.

Bet on Chelsea v Liverpool at Betway

Liverpool lost their opening Champions League game in midweek, suffering a 2-0 defeat to the hands of Napoli. Even so, they have a winning streak of five games in the PL, and are utterly dominant in the League so far. It remains to be seen if anyone can beat them this year.

They have only lost once in 44 games, and are unbeaten in the last 22. If there has been one weakness this season, is that they have been surprisingly vulnerable at the back. They have conceded in every game, bar one. In comparison to last season this is certainly a concern. Under Klopp, Liverpool have fared well at Stamford Bridge, winning two of his four games played there.

Prediction: Draw – Chelsea will perform well, and this will be a score draw. Liverpool’s defence will be their weakness.

Rest of the Premier League Games

Here’s our previews and betting tips for all the rest of the weekend’s action.

Southampton v Bournemouth

  • Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium
  • Friday 20 September 22:00
  • Referee: Chris Kavanagh
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 11/10 D: 5/2 A: 5/2

About the Game:

Both of these teams come into this game on seven points and having won their match last week. The south-coast derby is one that elicits some great games are there are hopes this one will follow suit.

Southampton have only lost one of their previous eight Premier League meetings against Bournemouth and Eddie Howe is looking for a first ever away win against the Saints. Bournemouth will be relying on Callum Wilson who has been involved the most goals for an English player (other than Raheem Sterling) since last season, with 17 goals and nine assists.

Prediction: Southampton to win – It will be a boring game with the Saints just knicking it by a goal.

Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur

  • Venue: King Power Stadium
  • Saturday 21 September 12:30
  • Referee: Paul Tierney
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 15/8 D: 5/2 A: 7/5

About the Game:

Leicester lost their first game of the season last week, nevertheless they did look very good and were unlucky. They come into the game with very few injury concerns, with only Matty James absent. Brendan Rodgers will be looking to get back on track.

History is on Spurs’ side, having won four of their past five PL games against Leicester, including the last three in a row. What’s more, Harry Kane loves a game against the Foxes, with 13 goals in 12 matches against a side he was once on loan at.

Prediction: Leicester to win – The Foxes bounce back against a Spurs side that don’t show up.

Everton v Sheffield United

  • Venue: Goodison Park
  • Saturday 21 September 15:00
  • Referee: Simon Hooper
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 10/11 D: 14/5 A:11/4

About the Game:

Everton are team that are hard to put your finger on. One week they look good, the next they are putrid. Their home form is nothing to be shirked at, however, as they have won six on the bounce. It remains to be seen which side shows up in this one, but we would hope it is the better one.

Sheffield United haven’t won away for 13 years in the Premier League. Of course, they weren’t in the league for most of that, but still it demonstrates the size of the task at hand. Talisman, Billy Sharp will be suspended for this one after his red card against Southampton last week.

Prediction: Everton to win – This is a game that the Toffees win, and we don’t expect any other outcome in this one.

Man City v Watford

  • Venue: Etihad Stadium
  • Saturday 21 September 15:00
  • Referee: Mike Dean
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 1/10 D: 9/1 A: 20/1

About the Game:

In one of the greatest shocks in PL history, City lost against Norwich last week in a 3-2 thriller. There is absolutely no way that this is repeated this week, and City will be out to avenge their loss. Look out for Sergio Aguero who has 10 goals in seven appearances against the Hornets. He could bag a hat-trick.

Watford are bottom of the league, still without victory in the league. By the end of Saturday, they will still occupy this position. They have absolutely no chance, and it will be more of a game of keeping the score down than anything else.

Prediction: Man City -1.5 handicap – We can see this one ending up 5-0, so a handicap makes sense here.

Burnley v Norwich

  • Venue: Turf Moor
  • Saturday 21 September 15:00
  • Referee: David Coote
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 10/11 D: 14/5 A: 11/4

About the Game:

Burnley come into this game with a relative clean bill of health. The only player missing is Danny Drinkwater. Nevertheless, they haven’t won since the opening day and really need to pull a victory out of the hat in this one.

Norwich beat champions Man City last week, overcoming them 3-2 at home. Teemu Pukki scored once again and the Finnish star is playing out of his mind. They could suffer a hangover in this one though, as it is always a danger after coming off an historical victory. Whatever happens, Norwich have been a breath of fresh air so far this season.

Prediction: Burnley to win – Dyche’s boys get back on track with a much needed victory.

Newcastle v Brighton
Newcastle Form Guide LLLLL

  • Venue: St James’ Park
  • Saturday 21 September 17:30
  • Referee: Martin Atkinson
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 7/5 D: 11/5 A: 21/10

About the Game:

Steve Bruce’s boys come into this game searching to return to winning ways at home. They are still looking for their first three points at St James’ Park with Bruce in charge. The Magpies faithful will be glad to know Andy Carroll is fit enough to make the squad and could make his second debut for the club.

Brighton haven’t won a game in the league since the opening weekend, and are slowly drifting down the table. Their plight is not helped by the fact that Leon Balogun, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Leandro Trossard, and Ezequiel Schelotto will all miss out due to injury. We expect this to be a tight game.

Prediction: Newcastle to win – This could go either way, expect Joelinton to step up for the Magpies.

Crystal Palace v Wolves
Crystal Palace Form Guide WDLDD
Wolves Form Guide WWWLW
  • Venue: Selhurst Park
  • Sunday 22 September 14:00
  • Referee: Stuart Attwell
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 8/5 D: 21/10 A: 19/10

About the Game:

Palace’s season has been marked with the complete lack of goals scored so far. In five games they have only managed a paltry 3 goals, with two of those coming in one game. They really need to turn this around soon, otherwise they will continue their fall down the table and find themselves in a relegation scrap.

Wolves have had a torrid start to the season, and have lost three on the bounce. It’s in stark comparison to last season when they were one of the best sides outside the top six. Surely they are too good to be embroiled in a relegation battle, yet many sides have thought so in the past and the PL is a cruel mistress.

Prediction: Wolves Draw no Bet – This could be the game where Wolves turn it around, yet we need some insurance.

West Ham v Manchester United
West Ham Form Guide LDDDW
Man Utd Form Guide WWLWD
  • Venue: London Stadium
  • Sunday 22 September 14:00
  • Referee: Anthony Taylor
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 11/5 D: 5/2 A: 6/5

About the Game:

West Ham are a decent team under Manuel Pellegrini and haven’t lost in the PL in four games. They also have decent for at home against Untied beating them in two of the past four games. We expect them to put up another difficult challenge for the Red Devils this weekend.

Manchester United laboured to a midweek win against FC Astana, and this was symbolic of their season so far. They have not looked good at all, and even when they win they make hard work of it. They are only above West Ham on goal difference, and could be below them by the end of the day.

Prediction: West Ham to win  – The better manager will get the best result, and put pressure on the Norwegian.

Aston Villa v West Ham United
Arsenal Form Guide DDWLL
Aston Villa Form Guide LWDLL
  • Venue: Emirates Stadium
  • Sunday 22 September 16:30
  • Referee: Michael Oliver
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 17/40 D: 15/4 A: 6/1

About the Game:

Arsenal’s premier league form has been pretty worrying so far, and haven’t won in their past three games. However, they did have some tough fixtures and this is a game they really should be winning. We expect them to do so, although it might not be as comfortable as they are hoping.

Aston Villa haven’t won any of the last six games against Aresnal. On Monday night football, Tyrone Mings and Anwar El Ghazi clashed heads, and the Villans faithful will be hoping there are no more signs of infighting in the team. Truth be told, Villa have played pretty decent football so far this season, they just don’t have the results to show for it.

Prediction: Arsenal Win – Arsenal are decent at home and even though Villa can play well, they’ll leave with nothing.
