Match of the Day

The match of the week is the age-old contest of Chelsea versus Man Utd. It is a classic, and one that now will have serious implications in the race for the Champions League.

  • Venue: Stamford Bridge
  • Monday 17 February 20:00
  • Referee: Anthony Taylor
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 5/6 D:27/10 A: 16/5

About the Game:

Chelsea come into this game six points ahead of United and will want to make it nine. Just like their opponents they haven’t won in three PL games with their last victory coming against Burnley. Nevertheless, a home game in the PL against the Red Devils has been good to the Blues in recent years, as they have lost just once in 17 matches.

Tammy Abraham has fired in 13 goals so far this season, however in the previous match against Leicester he was carrying a knock. Kepa was also dropped in that game so it will be interesting to see if he returns to the starting line-up in this one.

Bet on Chelsea v Man Utd at bet365

As things stand, Utd are 8th in the table and are struggling to find form. With just nine wins all season, they are truly a mediocre side. They splashed the cash to sign Bruno Fernandes, but time has shown that throwing loads of money at a sinking ship doesn’t really solve anything.

United’s away form has also been pretty poor this season with only three wins in 12 games. They conceded 17 away from home and their leaky defence is the story of their season. With the firepower Chelsea possess it is hard to see them coming away with a clean sheet, so a BTTS bet could also be a good shout, if you are unsure who will win it outright.

Prediction: Chelsea to win – It’s a tough game to predict, but Man Utd are too inconsistent to be trusted.

Rest of the Premier League Games

Coming up are our previews and betting tips for all the rest of the weekend’s action.

  • Venue: Molineux Stadium,
  • Friday 14 February 20:00
  • Referee: Mike Dean
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 6/4 D: 23/10 A: 19/10

About the Game:

Wolves come into this game on th eback of some indifferent form. They have only one win in six PL matches, and their early season promise is beginning to wane. They are now in ninth place, but can climb to sixth with a win on Friday night. Adama Traore is fit for the game an will provide a huge boost to the starting line-up.

Leicester can climb up to second with a win here and will all but secure Champions League football they way things are going at the moment. Wilfred Ndidi faces a very late fitness test and is doubtful to play. Vardy hasn’t scored in five matches, a barron spell that he will be anxious to overcome.

Prediction: Draw – Both teams are in indifferent form, and they match up well against each other. It’ll be a tight game.

Southampton v Burnley

  • Venue: St. Mary’s Stadium
  • Saturday 15 February 12:30
  • Referee: Simon Hooper
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 3/4 D: 14/5 A: 15/4

About the Game:

Both teams come into this game level on points, and the Saints will be looking to win their fourth game in six matches. Kyle Walker-Peters is in line to make his debut for the side, and could provide their defence a boost. Danny Ings will also be hoping to score, as he is looks to try and force his way into contention for the Euro’s.

Burnley’s up and down season continues as they are now three matches unbeaten and are looking to push their way into the top half of the table. Ashley Barnes, and Johann Gudmundsson will once again be unavailable, but they welcome Josh Brownhill to the squad who could be make his debut.

Prediction: Southampton to win – Although their home form hasn’t been  very good, neither has Burnley’s away form.

Norwich v Liverpool

  • Venue: Carrow Road,
  • Saturday 15 February 17:30
  • Referee: Stuart Attwell
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 9/1 D: 11/2 A: 1/4

About the Game:

With one win in 12 PL games, and never beating Liverpool in the Premier League, this one doesn’t look good for Norwich. They are seven points from safety, so they will be fighting tooth and nail to get anything they can in this one, but we are confident they will be wholly outclassed.

Liverpool’s away record this season is 11-1-0, considering they’ve only dropped two points all season, it would take a brave man to bet against them in this one. Stranger things have happened, but it just seams implausible that they will lose this, let alone come away with anything other than three points.

Prediction: Liverpool (-2) to win – We expect an easy 3-0 victory for the Scousers in this one.

Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur

  • Venue: Villa Park
  • Sunday 16 February 14:00
  • Referee: Martin Atkinson
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 3/1 D: 14/5 A:17/20

About the Game:

Aston Villa sit just outside the relegation places, with a one point cushion. They haven’t won in any of their last four matches against Spurs, but will be hoping to change that on Sunday. Their talisman Jack Grealish has seven goals to his name so far, along with 63 chances created. They will need more of his magic if they want to win this one.

Spurs on the other hand, are looking to win their third game on the trot, and could move to fifth and within touching distance of the CL places. Steven Bergwijn, Tottenham’s £26.7 million Janaury signing, made an instant impact with a wonderful debut goal, and they will be looking for mroe of the same from the promising Dutchman.

Prediction: Spurs to win – Tottenham continue their good form with a hard fought victory in this one.

Arsenal v Newcastle

Newcastle Form Guide WDWLD
  • Venue: Emirates Stadium
  • Sunday 16 February 16:30
  • Referee: Lee Mason
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 2/5 D: 15/4 A: 7/1

About the Game:

Arsenal are on a run of seven games unbeaten in all competitions. However, they have drawn four in a row in the PL, and need to starting getting some wins from somewhere. They will be boosted by the return of Sead Kolasinac, Reiss Nelson, and Bujayo Sako, although Kieran Tierney is still out injured.

Newcastle can also boast of a four match unbeaten run in the Premier League, and they have more victories that the Gunners do this season. Even so, their brand of football is pretty terrible and they have only averaged 39.4% possession per game this season. The worst in the top five leagues of Europe. Expect another defensive team on Sunday.

Prediction: Aresnal to win (to nil) – The Gunners will finally get their first victory in five games.

Man City v West Ham
Man City Form Guide LLLLL
West Ham Form Guide DWDWW
  • Venue: Etihad Stadium
  • Wednesday 19 February 19:30
  • Referee: Kevin Friend
  • Quick Glance Odds H: 1/9 D: 9/1 A: 18/1

About the Game:

The first game was postponed due to Storm Ciara, and now they are set to play on Wednesday instead. Raheem Sterling picked up a hamstring injury in the previous match, and will be a serious doubt in this one. Even so, the Citizens should have more than enough firepower to see off a very poor West Ham side.

West Ham haven’t won in five PL games, and it will likely be six by the end of this one. They sit in the relegation zone, and things are starting to look bleak for the Hammers. When players like Mark Noble still get in the starting eleven every week, there’s probably good reason why. Things don’t get easier for them either, with a daunting fixture list coming up.

Prediction: Man City to win (-2) – City will win this one by a big score. We wouldn’t be surprised if they netted five.
