William Hill to open New Jersey sportsbook in June
Sports betting giant William Hill is to open a sports betting area in an ocean-front casino in New Jersey.
William Hill has partnered with Ocean Resort Casino, a hotel and entertainment property in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Hill will operate a 7,500 square foot sportsbook in the recently constructed $6m gaming floor of the development. The sportsbook will have a range of innovative features, such as modern video technology for viewing live events and displaying in-play odds. There will also be private suites for high-rollers.
The operator has bet big on the investment, shelling out £4.5m for the space. The move is currently pending legal and regulatory approval, but is set to open when the resort re-opens at the end of June.
The deal also grants the resort and its customers access to William Hill’s technology, such as its mobile and online platforms.
William Hill is already well placed in the US, with existing outlets in Nevada. It is also among the frontrunners in the race to take on the newly opened US sports betting market.
The bookie is also ready to go with its sportsbook at Monmouth Park, also in New Jersey, as soon as the sports betting legislation that is making its way through state Assembly and the senate is signed.
Speaking about the move, Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill US, said:
We are very excited to be a part of Ocean Resort Casino and to have a presence on the Atlantic City boardwalk. We have had great success working with Ocean’s senior management in Las Vegas, and we are excited to have the chance to do so in Atlantic City at what will be the best sports book in town.– Joe Asher, CEO William Hill US.
Bruce Deifik, chairman of AC Ocean Walk, the owners of the Ocean Resort Casino, said:
Ocean Resort Casino is thrilled to partner with William Hill, the best name in sports betting, to establish a truly unique sports betting experience in the centre of our resort and in Atlantic City.– Bruce Deifik, Chairman AC Ocean Walk.
